Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 29 (Tuesday). SRH conceded a 61-run defeat against RR.
A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said that SRH “have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate.”

“The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on March 29,” a BCCI statement read.
“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement further added.
Previously, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma became the first skipper of IPL 2022 to be fined for slow over-rate. The MI captain was fined Rs 12 lakh as the five-time champions were unable to complete their quota of overs in the specified time limit during their four-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 27 (Sunday).

In the match, RR registered a huge total of 210/6 in 20 overs. Their skipper Sanju Samson showed terrific batting skills as he scored 55 runs off 27 balls. His innings was comprised of 3 boundaries and 5 sixes. Later, Devdutt Padikkal (41 runs off 29 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (32 runs off 13 balls) helped their side in reaching a mammoth total.
In response, the Hyderabad-based franchise could not start the run chase convincingly as they lost their first three wickets within just first five overs. Later, Aiden Markram (57 not out off 41 balls) and Washington Sundar (40 runs off 14 balls) tried to put up some fight but eventually their resistance turned out to be futile as the Kane Williamson-led side could manage to reach a total of 149/7 in 20 overs.
For RR, their spinner Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets as Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult bagged two wickets each. The Sanju Samson-led side currently find themselves at the top spot of the points table.
