Two Uttar Pradesh (UP) teammates Yash Dayal and Rinku Singh were on the opposite sides of an incredible game with saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat the Gujarat Titans (GT) in an exceptional final over at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rinku smashed five sixes in the ultimate over of the match, off the bowling of left-arm pacer Dayal. He had an extremely poor innings, and finished with 0/69 – the second most expensive over in the history of IPL.
The GT pacer has since not featured in an IPL game this season, and if one goes by Hardik Pandya's recent revelation, the left-arm pacer might not play in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich tournament again. After GT's 55-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 25 (Tuesday), captain Hardik was quizzed about Yash Dayal's availability moving forward. Answering the question, Hardik said that the left-arm seamer's health has deteriorated and he has lost '7-8 kilos'.
"I can’t confirm that (on his chances of playing again this season). He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It is going to take a long time before we see him on the field," Hardik told reporters.
Yash's father Chandarpal Dayal after the game between KKR and GT had said that he asked few relatives to go and speak to his son and motivate him.
"I told them to go and motivate him. Pick up his morale. He would be understandably depressed. Please go. He speaks very little. He is an introvert, and in such situations, he can become a touch numb. I have been a cricketer but being a father, and mother is something else. I did get a bit depressed, 'kyun hua, kaise hua... (why it happened, how it happened), the mind was in a loop, worried for my son," Chandarpal told The Indian Express.
