IPL 2023: Massive blow to Rajasthan Royals, explosive batter set to be ruled out of clash against Delhi Capitals

Former champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) have dealt with a huge blow as their explosive batter Jos Buttler is set to be ruled out of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) clash Delhi Capitals.

Going by a report in the Times of India, Buttler is doubtful to play RR's next game against David Warner's men which will be played on April 8 (Saturday). Buttler picked up an injury to the little finger of his right hand while taking a catch during RR's match against Punjab Kings on April 5. Buttler had to undergo multiple stitches post the catch as he didn't turn up to open in RR's innings. Instead star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin came alongwith Yashasvi Jaiswal to open for Men in Purple. However, the experiment to send Ashwin to open failed as the the all-rounder was dismissed for a duck. Buttler came at the creast at no.3 but could only score 19 off 11 before taking the longest walk towards pavilion.

Sanju Samson's men ended up losing the match against PBKS as they suffered a five-run defeat after failing to chase down the challenging target of 198.

Meanwhile, DC too suffered a jolt ahead of the clash against RR as their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will have to fly back to Australia and has been ruled out of the next few games, DC's bowling coach James Hopes said on Friday (April 7).

“He [Marsh] is not going to be available for the next few games. He is getting married,” said Hopes ahead of Capitals clash with Royals in Guwahati.

The Australian has been a part of the Capitals playing 11 in both its matches so far - against Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. Marsh, making a comeback after a long injury hiatus, bowled for Capitals in their last match against Titans. He ended with figures of 1/24.

“The idea was for him to start bowling from the India ODI series. But that got delayed. I think he bowled fantastically the other day. He will slot straight back when he gets back,” Hopes added.
