The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season saw fours and sixes raining heavily with a total of 458 runs scored in the match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Mohali. Eventually, it was the Lucknow Super Giants, captained by KL Rahul, who won the match by 56 runs after scoring the second-highest score in the IPL ever at 257 runs.

In response, Punjab only managed 201 runs.

A total of 22 sixes were hit. One of the sixes conceded by the home side PBKS off English player Liam Livingstone who made a childish mistake which not only cost his team a wicket but also gave an easy six runs. This has led to many fans trolling the Englishman on social media, associating him with a famous scene from the English movie 'Lagaan'.

In the 13th over of the match, Australian batter Marcus Stoinis smashed a powerful shot. Livingstone, standing at the boundary line, judged the ball well and took an excellent catch.

Then Stoinis had scored 38 runs at that time. After this catch, the fans of PBKS who were at the stadium to support their team were jubilant, but their happiness turned into despair in the next few moments. This was because Livingstone's leg was touching the boundary line. It was a far cry to get Stoinis out on this, as LSG were then awarded the maximum.

After this lifeline, Stoinis thrashed the bowlers of Punjab Kings bowlers fiercely and went on to play a blistering innings of 72 runs in 40 balls with six fours and five sixes to his name. He helped LSG to a massive score of 257 runs while batting first. W

A user linked his missed opportunity to the catch in the final scene of the famous Hindi movie Lagaan on social media. In the movie, Aamir Khan plays a big shot on the last ball of the match as an English player takes the catch but stands n the boundary. Liam is being trolled by linking to this scene of the film.

Liam's performance in the match
Talking about Livingstone, he was brought into the side during the IPL 2022 auction, paying a hefty sum of Rs 11.50 crores. Apart from dropping a catch in the match against Lucknow, he took one wicket for 19 runs in one over and could score only 23 runs in 14 balls in batting.
