The battle of former champions saw table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur on Thursday (April 27).
RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal combined with Jos Buttler to give Royals a cracking start. RR were blazing on 42 for no loss at the end of three overs with Yashasvi on 31 off 11 and Buttler 11 off 7.
But what happened next left everyone in disbelief. CSK skipper MS Dhoni, who is renowned for taking accurate on-field reviews apparently miscalculated one in the match against RR. The fourth over saw Maheesh Theekshana's delivery hit Yashasvi's pads which led to a massive LBW appeal from CSK players. However, the on-field umpire didn't look convinced, hence didn't raise his finger. The legendary Dhoni immediately ushered umpire and took a review as he looked convinced. However, to everyone's surprise, ‘Dhoni Review System’ didn't work out this time as the replay showed the ball pitched outside the leg stump and CSK ended up losing the review.

Meanwhile Yashasvi went on to crack a lightning 77 off 43 riding on eight fours and four sixes and helped RR post a huge total of 202/5.
Earlier, Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. " We would like to bat first. We like to stick to our strength, which is to defend. It feels really great to play RR's 200th game, feels great to be playing for 10 years. Would love to see some pink here today, but it's yellow and we know that the reason is. Boulty misses out with a niggle, and Adam Zampa comes in," Samson said.
“This pitch has decent pace but the average bounce is slightly less. We are trying to build characters in our team (bowlers) and make them believe in themselves. Same side for us,” CSK captain MS Dhoni said after the toss.
