Shikhar Dhawan continued to shine with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Punjab Kings skipper Dhawan brought his A game to the fore and cracked a scintillating 86 off 56 to help his side clinch a thrilling victory over former champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their IPL clash at the Baraspara Stadium on Wednesday (April 5). Dhawan also notched 40 off 29 balls in the PBKS opener against Kolkata Knight Riders. After two matches Dhawan has amassed 126 runs to pose a strong competition to Chennai Super Kings' Ruturaj Gaikwad as the race for Orange Cap heats up. Ruturaj continues to don the Orange Cap with a total of 149 runs in a total of two matches riding on two blistering fifties. Lucknow Super Giants' Kyle Mayers, who has also struck two back-to-back fifities in his first two matches, has amassed 126 runs to claim the second spot. Mayers is followed by Dhawan, who also has as many runs, but grabs the third spot in the list of most run getters of IPL 2023. RR skipper Sanju Samson displaced David Warner from fourth spot despite his team lost the match against PBKS. Samson scores a quickfire 25-ball 42 to take his total run tally to 97 in a total of two matches. David Warner sits at no.5 in the list as he has scored 93 runs in two matches.
