Watch: Riled up Jadeja loses cool after Klaasen's collision denied him Mayank's catch during CSK vs SRH clash

Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at their own fort at Chepauk stadium on Friday (April 21). CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the flip of the coin and opted to bowl first against the Orange Army. Batting first, Aiden Markram-led side got off to a slow start and lost the first centurion of IPL 2023, Harry Brook cheaply in the fifth over aftet the star English batter scored 18 off 13 balls. Abhishek Sharma was the next to return to pavilion after his impressive 34 off 26. Soon after Rahul Tripathi and Markram's dismissals, SRH were seen reeling at 91/4 after the end of 13 overs. Mayank Agarwal came to bat next at no.6 as he tried to accelerate the run rate looking at the situation. But Mayank was caught offguard in the very second delivery that he faced off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling. Having already snared 2/16 in his three overs, Jadeja brought CSK's 14th over and bowled a tossed up delivery which Mayank tried to chip straight towards Heinrich Klaases who was standing at the non-striker's end. The super catcher Jadeja tried to pouch the ball but ended up colliding with Klaasen, who didn't get any time to move. Eventually due to the collision Jadeja dropped the catch and gave a death stare to Klaasen and cameras' eyes captured the moment. Jadeja looked all furious and was fuming over Klaasen and even some words were exchanged between the duo.

Not just this, few balls later, when Klaasen returned to non-striker's end again after taking a single, yet again some verbal volleys were exchanged between the duo and the umpire had to come to the rescue to separate them. However, Jadeja took his revenge and grabbed Agarwal's wicket on the fifth ball after the batter scored just 2 off 4 balls.

Meanwhile, SRH managed to post a below par total of 134/7 on the board. Earlier, Dhoni won the toss and invited SRH to bat first.

“We'll bowl first. This pitch is 50-50 because it is slightly cloudy. There might be dew so always better to chase. All packed together on the points table, we need to do well and not look at the table at this moment. Combination wise, we have been fortunate because we haven't had all players available. The headaches start later when everyone becomes available,” CSK skipper Dhoni said after winning the toss.

“We'd have also bowled first. We had a good game against KKR batting first, so hopefully we can take a leaf out of that. I think we need to get the whole game good together, one skill is good and the other not as much, so we are working on it. If one of them is having a good night, they have to make it big. Hectic schedules but we are not complaining, the IPL allows us the chance to travel around and meet different fan bases. We've got the same 16 from the MI game, but since we are batting first here, there will be a change to the XI,” SRH captain Aiden Markram said after the toss.
