Watch: Trent Boult dooms DC, uproots Prithvi Shaw-Manish Pandey in back-to-back deliveries to bag robust record

Delhi Capitals' (DC) lacklustre show in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) doesn't seem to end. David Warner's DC after losing their first two matches against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively, locked horns with former champions Rajasthan Royals at the Baraspara Stadium on Saturday (April 8).

DC allowed RR to post a daunting total of 199/4. In reply, when they came to bat Trent Boult gave them a nightmare with his rattling first-over spell. The star New Zealand's pacer Boult rocked DC camp by removing impact player Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey in first over's back-to-back deliveries. Both the batters returned to the hut without opening their run account.

Boult got his first scalp in the form of Shaw on the third ball when the batter nicked an outswinger and RR skipper Sanju Samson did rest of the job by plucking a diving catch to his right.

Boult didn't stop there, he landed another blow by dismissing DC's debutant Manish Pandey with an inswinger in the following ball to record a double wicket maiden. With this Boult clinched his second double wicket maiden in three IPL games in 2023.

Boult earlier bowled a similar spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2023's clash when he trapped Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi.

With this Boult became only the second bowler along with David Willey to record double wicket maiden over in IPL 2023. Boult returned with a brilliant spell of 3/29.

As far as match is concerned, David Warner’s fighting fifty went in vain as DC suffered their third defeat in a row and RR registered a convincing 57-run win. Beside Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal too got a three-fer. RR posted a total of 199/4 with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal's 60 off 31 and Jos Buttler's 79 off 51. Shimron Hetmyer too contributed with 39 off 21 to help his side post a daunting total.
