Virat Kohli is breathing fire with the bat these days. His latest heroics was the 82 off 49 in Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) emphatic eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) couple of days before in their campaign opener in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli who is generally seen whacking bowlers all around the park or setting internet on fire with his funny dance has now shown his new side to the world. Kohli turned poet this time in the latest RCB Insider video which was posted on Twitter by the Bengaluru-based franchise on Tuesday (April 4).
The 'RCB Insider' video saw Danish Sait aka 'Mr Nags' engaging in a friendly discussion with the batting juggernaut Kohli. Mr Nags is a known name among the RCB fans for hosting special interviews with cricketers. This time Mr Nags challenged Kohli for an impromptu ‘poetry contest’.
Kohli was asked to write few lines with four words, Kohli pulled off an inspiring poetry which concisely summed up RCB's journey so far in the IPL. Kohli was thrown four words to weave a poem out of it, which were, Trip, Tide, Man and 49. What happened next took everyone by surprise as Kohli executed the task with perfection.
"Fullfill you desires, ignite the fire, Bat through the tough times, sometimes it's 263 & sometimes 49, Life can put you in a pickle, Laugh through like it's a tickle, whether you get a hundred or a duck, life goes on, don't get stuck," wrote Kohli.

Despite having strong and talented players over the last 15 seasons, RCB have been unable to win the coveted trophy. When skipper, Kohli was unable to secure a win for RCB. He gave up the captaincy ahead of IPL 2022, with Faf du Plessis being elected as the new captain of the team. Kohli recently joked with RCB's famous Mr Nags, stating that their team could win a trophy for social media.
"Our team's social media performance is the best. If you bring the trophy in social media, there is no one in RCB's competition. We will win in just two weeks. No. 14 No, we will win only in four to five matches," Kohli said in a conversation with Nags.
In IPL 2023, RCB have built a strong team. They are without Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who has been ruled out for the first 7 matches. In their last match against MI, RCB chased 172 runs and won convincingly.
Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 82 runs in 49 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes, while Captain du Plessis scored 73 runs in 43 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. The opening partnership of 148 runs between Kohli and du Plessis was crucial to RCB's victory, as they scored 172 runs for two wickets in 16.2 overs, winning the match by eight wickets.
