‘Yashasvi has learned the art of conversion from Kohli’: Ex-India's explosive batter ahead of RR vs PBKS clash

SportsTak

All eyes will be hooked on Yashasvi Jaiswal when Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 19 (Friday) with far fetched playoff berth in their mind. Meanwhile, former India's explosive batter Virender Sehwag has likened Jaiswal's batting qualities with Virat Kohli and lavished immense praise on the RR's batting sensation. Sehwag said that Jaiswal has learned the art of converting 50s into 100s from batting juggernaut Kohli.

Notably, Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) star batter Kohli struck his sixth Indian Premier League's (IPL) century (100 off 63) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to emulate Chris Gayle's record of most tons in the glitzy league. The 21-year-old Jaiswal too smoked his maiden IPL century this season against Mumbai Indians recently to prove his batting prowess.

Sehwag compares Jaiswal with Kohli

Right ahead of the clash between RR and PBKS Sehwag while lauding Jaiswal said that several batters tend to throw their wickets after scoring 13-ball 50 but the RR batter looks to build on just like Kohli.

"Yashasvi Jaiswal is a future star. He learned the art of converting 50s into 100s from Virat Kohli. Several batters throw their wickets after scoring 13-ball 50 but Yashasvi looks to build on. He's got that temperament to play big knocks," Sehwag told Star Sports.

Jaiswal, the diamond in the rough, after being roped in by RR for a whopping Rs 4 crore has been creating buzz with his incredible show with the willow. So far in IPL 2023, Jaiswal has amassed 575 runs in a total of 13 matches which is studded with a blistering century. He is also on cusp of shattering ex-Kings XI Punjab's (now Punjab Kings) batter Shaun Marsh's record of scoring 616 runs by uncapped batter in a single IPL season.

RR will want Jaiswal to fire with the bat against PBKS as the Men in Pink are still hopeful of a playoff berth as they have 12 points in their kitty in 13 matches. However both the teams are coming into the match with demoralising defeats. While RR suffered an embarrassing defeat against RCB, PBKS lost to already eliminated Delhi Capitals (DC).
