Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul has become the fastest Indian to hit 150 sixes in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Rahul took 95 innings to get to 150 sixes in the cash-rich league. He broke Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson’s record by a huge margin. Samson reached the milestone from 125 innings earlier this week in the clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Rahul got to the milestone in the fourth over against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. He took on DC right-arm off-spinner Lalit Yadav for a 75-metre six over long-off.
Overall, IPL legend Chris Gayle holds the record for fastest to 150 sixes. The hard-hitting Caribbean opener achieved the feat from just 50 innings. The second batter on the list is Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Andre Russell who took 72 innings to reach the mark. Third on the list is Rahul, followed by Delhi Capitals (DC) opener David Warner (109 sixes) and former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter AB de Villiers.
During the innings, Rahul also crossed the 400-run mark in the ongoing season. This is for the fifth consecutive season he has scored 400 runs or more. Only Raina (7), Warner (7) and Shikhar Dhawan (6) have done it more times than Rahul.
Rahul got to his second half-century from 35 deliveries with a single off Shardul Thakur in the 13th over of the innings. He is second on the race of Orange Cap after Royals opener Buttler who has 566 runs from nine innings at an average of 70.75 including three centuries and as many half-centuries.
The 30-year-old scored 77 runs from 51 deliveries including four fours and five sixes. He got out in the penultimate over of the innings to Shardul Thakur. His knock helped LSG post 195/3 which turned out to be the winning total.
