Ahead of the eliminator clash of Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Ayush Badoni injured himself while trying to play a scoop shot. In a video posted by LSG, Badoni was trying to demonstrate how to play a scoop shot but he missed the ball as it hit him in the groin area. Badoni was down on the ground as he tried to recover from the unfortunate blow.
LSG shared the video with caption saying, “Sorry, Ayush we just had to” with laughing emojis. At the start of the video, Badoni can be heard saying “check this out”. He wore a camera on his helmet as well to record how he pulls off that shot.
While Badoni missed the timing in the nets, he plays the shot very well when facing fast bowlers at death trying to bowl a fuller delivery. He will be looking to pull off the same when facing Mumbai Indians (MI) death overs speciallist Akash Madhwal.
The 23-year-old has scored 237 runs from 14 games in the season so far at an average of 26.33 with a strike rate of 143.64. His only half-century came against CSK as well. However, rain played spoilsport and one point each was shared in the rescheduled clash at Ekana Cricket Stadium.

He shared a crucial 74-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Nicholas Pooran that helped LSG post a challenging total of 176/8. Pooran lauded Badoni after winning the ‘Player of the match’ award for his fiery 30-ball 58.
“Ayush and I had that partnership against Chennai as well. I was confident batting with him at the crease,” the Caribbean batter had said in the post-match presentation.
LSG will take on five-time IPL champions MI on May 24 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. LSG In the absence of an injured KL Rahul, stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya will be hoping for a better finish than last year. In last season, LSG lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the eliminator by 14 runs.
