Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the new franchises for upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) to submit their list of players before January 22, a source confirmed to Sports Tak. The decision comes a day after Ahmedabad-franchise owner CVC Capitals were given a letter of intent on January 11.
The source also said that the BCCI has asked the Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises to complete their formalities within 10 days (which started on January 11).
Earlier Sports Tak had reported that the Ahmedabad franchise has roped in India's star all-rounder and former Mumbai Indians player Hardik Pandya as captain of their side. Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and hard-hitting wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan are the other two picks of the new franchise.
On the other hand, there are reports suggesting former Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul will lead the Lucknow-based franchise. However, the two franchise are yet to make any official announcements about their picks which can include two Indian and one overseas player.
On January 11, BCCI also announced the dates of IPL 2022 mega auction. The mega event will take place next month on February 12 and 13.
