MS Dhoni heaps praise on CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni bestowed strong praise on his bowler after the team's second consecutive victory in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Dhoni credited his bowler for the victory since it was a batter-friendly track and, given the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) strong start, it was a great performance by CSK to restrict them to 157 runs.

"Bravo has turned up fit - that's a very good thing. And he is executing well. I call him my brother. We always have fights over whether he should bowl the slower ball. But I told him that now everyone knows he bowls slower balls, so I told him to bowl six different balls in one over. Whenever he can, he takes up responsibilities.”

The versatility of DJ Bravo

Bravo's variety is evident when he bowls in death overs, producing yorkers, slower ones, and other variantions on a steady basis.

He is a champion not only with the ball, but also with the bat. We saw glimpses of his batting talent against Mumbai Indians (MI), where he produced a critical cameo of 23 off just 8 balls to propel CSK to a fantastic finish after a horrible start.

The 37-year-old is also a fantastic fielder which makes him an excellent asset to any T20 team. He can bowl his entire four-over quota, finish the innings down the order, and even take a few blinders.

CSKs’ position

Now, with their win over RCB last night, CSK has regained the top spot in the rankings with 14 points from nine games and an impressive net run rate.

They will be assured of a position in the VIVO IPL 2021 playoffs with only one more win from here, which appears to be a foregone conclusion.
