As over a billion people celebrated the 12 anniversary of Team India's 2011 ODI World Cup triumph on April 2 (Sunday), MS Dhoni provided more joy to the fans as he recreated arguably the most memorable shot in Indian cricket history. The World Cup-winning captain had sent Sri Lanka's fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara's delivery sailing into the stands over the long-on fence which kick-started a party that lasted for months. That one hit from Dhoni ended India's 28-year-long wait for an ODI World Cup triumph and it came on April 2, 2011.

The former India captain, who is currently participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL), recreated the majestical shot during a practice session with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a video shared by the Yellow Army on its official social media account, Dhoni can be seen launching the ball over the long-on fence just like he did 12 years ago at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020. During his legendary career, the wicketkeeper-batter won India several matches with his outstanding finishing ability and astute leadership skill. During Dhoni's captaincy, the Men in Blue won three ICC trophies (the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, the 2011 ODI World Cup in India, and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England).

The wicketkeeper-batter gave fans plenty to cheer about during CSK's IPL 2023 opening game when he smoked a massive six in the last over of Men in Yellow's innings. Dhoni scored 14 not out in seven balls with the help of one four and a six. Having said that, CSK failed to start their campaign on a positive note as they suffered a five-wicket loss against the Gujarat Titans.

Now, Dhoni and the CSK are gearing up to play their first home game of the season. They will take on Lucknow Super Giants on April 3 (Monday).
