'Groom him, don't destroy his confidence' — Mohammad Amir unhappy with Pakistan management after omitting PSL's young star bowler

Pakistan are currently hosting New Zealand in five T20Is and as many ODIs, with the hosts having won two of the matches but losing the third. Their fourth match was washed out but not before the likes of Mark Chapman and Chad Bowes taking the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners.

Their pacers were especially expensive on the day, conceding as much as 100 of the 164 runs on the night before rain and hail called time on what would have been an exciting encounter.

However, a former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is not happy at the omission of young pacer Ihsanullah, who was exceptional in the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well as the Afghanistan series which Pakistan lost 2-1. He bagged 22 in the PSL and was the highest wicket-taker against Afghanistan, with six wickets to his name.

According to Amir, the Pakistan team management should be grooming the young pacer but instead, they are destroying his confidence but benching him against a top team like New Zealand. "Was looking forward to see @ihsanullah150 bowl in NZ series but he has been benched. Ihsan @thePSLt20 ka aur Afghanistan series ka sabse acha bowler that. Everyone was enjoying his fast & furious bowling & celebration. We should groom Ihsan instead of destroying his confidence," Amir wrote on twitter.

Amir had a rise in the game quite similar to Ihsanullah, making his Pakistan debut at the young age of 17 but was banned for spot-fixing for five years along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. He made a comeback to international cricket and was in the squad for the 2019 ODI World Cup as well, He took retirement from international cricket in 2020 at the age of just 28 years.
