Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wreaked havoc with their carnage-filled batting blitzes to script history in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday (April 28). Riding on lightning knocks from Marcus Stoinis, Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran, LSG posted the second highest total in the history of cash-rich league and the highest total of the current season. Kyle Mayers cracked a blistering 54 in 24, Stoinis whacked a lightning 72 off 40, Pooran struck a stunning 45 off 19 and Ayush Badoni smashed a quickfire 43 off 24 to help LSG post a monumental total of 257/5 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Earlier, PBKS won the toss and decided to bowl first as Dhawan returned to Punjab's fold after missing last three matches due to injury. Dhawan dropped Matthew Short and brought Sikandar Raza in PBKS' playing XI.

“Motivation remains the same wherever I play. But yeah, lot more familiar with these conditions. Looks like a good wicket. Dew does become a factor, that's why teams opt to bowl. Same team,” LSG skipper KL Rahul said after the toss.

“Going to bowl. Shoulder is much better - painfree now. We're quite happy. Have got 7 matches ahead, and looking to win most of them. Two changes - Short is out, Raza comes in. And a fast bowler will make his debut,” PBKS captain Dhawan said after winning the toss.
