Punjab Kings (PBKS) are all set to take on five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday (April 13). While Mayank Agarwal-led side had a mixed campaign so far in the IPL 2022, Rohit Sharma's depleted MI will look to get their mojo back as they are yet to register their first victory in the tournament.
In the slugfest, which is expected to be a high-voltage drama, the focus will be on star southpaw Shikhar Dhawan who is just 89 runs away from reaching a milestone of 6,000 runs in IPL. With this Shikhar will become the second batter to score as many runs after the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) run machine Virat Kohli. Shikhar will be playing his 196th innings while Virat has thus far played 203 innings to amass 6389 runs in IPL. The left-handed opener is also 98 runs away from completing 9000 runs in T20 cricket.
So far Shikhar has score 127 in four matches in the ongoing cash-rich league, with a highest score of 43.
Not just this, Shikhar is also 24-run short from getting past Mr IPL, Suresh Raina, to script a staggering feat in IPL against MI clash.
In a total of 26 IPL innings against MI, Dhawan has scored 801 runs at 38.14, laced with five half-centuries. If Dhawan manages to score 24 runs more on Wednesday, he will leapfrog former CSK star batter Raina to become the leading run-getter against MI. Raina presently stands atop with 824 runs 834 games with seven half-centuries.
The clash between PBKS and MI might see some more records being made. MI captain Rohit Sharma is just one boundary away from smashing 500 fours in the Indian Premier League. While he is only four sixes short of 200 sixes from Mumbai Indians. Apart from this, Rohit is 25 runs away from becoming the seventh player to complete 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings skipper Mayank Agarwal is 41 runs away from completing 4,000 runs in T20 cricket. If he manages to score a big score against Mumbai, then he can easily achieve this record.
