Prithvi Shaw has expressed his disappointment he received over failing to clear Yo-Yo fitness test at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Shaw scored less than 15 while the cut-off score is 16.5.

Shaw wrote in an Instagram story on March 16: "Plzz [sic] don't judge me, when you don't know my situation, u are creating your own karma..."

However, Shaw failing to pass the Yo-Yo fitness test will not affect his participation for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the upcoming 10-team tournament starting March 26.

The 22-year-old is not Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) centrally contracted player. The Mumbai-born batter was among the 25 players who joined the 10-day camp at NCA before IPL to prove their fitness. These players are also under the radar for upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played in Australia.

The former World Cup-winning captain recently captained Mumbai in Ranji Trophy 2022 as well. He will have another chance to prove his fitness as the BCCI will call these players back to NCA after completion of 15th edition of IPL.

Shaw was retained by Rishabh Pant-led DC for Rs 7.5 crore last year. This time around, he will be opening the innings Australia’s star batter and former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner who was roped in for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega auction.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya passed the Yo-Yo fitness test with flying colours. Hardik registered a 17-plus score in the Yo-Yo fitness test. Also, he bowled consistently above 130kmph even when he was not asked to prove his bowling fitness at the academy. The Baroda all-rounder indicated that he is ready to be back in scheme of things for India’s limited-overs squad as all-rounder.
