Ravi Shastri gives his verdict on Virat Kohli-Sourav Ganguly ‘no handshake’ controversy

Speculations were ripe as Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly seemed to avoid shaking each other hands after Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) last week. The video started making rounds on social media as the two had a history of disagreement. Kohli claimed that he was not communicated about the decision by then Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President.

Now former head coach Ravi Shastri has had his say on the controversy. While talking to ESPNCricinfo, the anchor did not take their names but asked Shastri about what he would have approached the situation.

“Depends on what my relationship is. If I don't want to talk, I'll just go past. But at the end of it, when you go and sit down, you feel that there's always some room to grow up, no matter how old you are,” Shastri said.

Earlier this week, DC assistant coach Shane Watson was asked about what happened after the match. Watson did not want to comment on rumours as he said, “It could be rumour mongering, but I'm not sure. So, it's not something I want to get involved in.”

“But there was definitely some fire in Virat's belly, that's for sure. For an opposition point of view, that's the last thing you need as well. Virat, when he's like that, that's when he's at his absolute best. Whatever reason that was, I'm not exactly sure,” the former Australian all-rounder further added.

Kohli scored a half-century in the clash against DC who suffered their fifth loss in a row. Earlier this week, DC ended their losing streak with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in home conditions in a low-scoring run chase.

Faf du Plessis’ RCB have won three out of six games so far. RCB will take on Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next clash at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. On the other hand, David Warner's DC will go up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
