Faf Du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are set to open their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign against mighty Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on April 2 (Sunday).

Despite putting on a good show in the past few years RCB are still devoid of the conveted IPL trophy. Last year Faf's brigade did well to make it to the playoffs but ended up losing to Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator clash, hence had to bid adieu to IPL 2022 without lifting the title. IPL 2022 also saw a major change in the leadership role where Du Plessis took over the captaincy baton from Virat Kohli. But this time around, RCB have made some significant changes in the squad as they will go all guns blazing in the sixteenth edition of the IPL, especially with their batting juggernaut Kohli oozing runs.

The Bengaluru-based franchise in undoubtedly one of the most popular IPL teams and their massive fan base validates the same. Every year in the IPL, RCB go by the popular slogan ‘Ee saala cup namde’ which means ‘This year, the cup is ours’. Few days back, Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis were at an RCB event where the former South African skipper made an attempt to pronounce the phrase. However, Du Plessis ended up making a blunder and mistakenly mispronounced the slogan, “Ee saala cup nahi which means (No cup this year)”. Right after Du Plessis goofed up with the slogan Kohli who was sitting beside him burst out in a fit of laughter. Kohli's reaction reached the nook and corners of social media which is since doing rounds of internet.

RCB's squad is bolstered by some big signings i.e Will Jacks and Reece Topley. However, Will has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to muscle injury and Michael Bracewell has been names his replacement.

However, it will be a match to watch out for when the two heavyweights, RCB and MI, will lock horns with each other as they both will look to start their IPL 2023 campaign on a winning note.
