India's star batter Rishabh Pant has finally started his rehabilitation at the National Academy in Bengaluru. The wicketkeeper-batter gave an update on his recovery via his Instagram story where he can be seen lying on the bed and an NCA's medical expert is attending Pant and examining his leg injury.
Pant, who has been on the sidelines of cricket after his horrible car crash in December last year, has has some improvement of late and was also in attendance in Delhi Capitals' (DC) home game at Arun Jaitley Stadium against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 4.
Pant was the victim of a major road accident on December 30, 2022, when he was travelling from Delhi to Roorkee. His car hit a divider at the Narsan border, leading to serious injuries to the Indian cricketer. The accident occurred around 5:15 am on December 30 and Pant was rushed to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. The Indian cricketer was then referred to Max Super Speciality Hospital in Dehradun. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries as doubts were raised on whether he would even be able to make a return to competitive cricket after his accident.
Meanwhile, in Pant's absence, David Warner has been given the onus to lead DC's pack. Going by the extent of Pant's injury, he is expected to miss most of the big cricketing events of 2023, including WTC, Asia Cup, ODI World Cup etc. In the recently announced Team India's squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia, which is set to be played from June 7, injury-ridden Pant couldn't make it to the fold. But counting on the positives, Pant getting back to NCA for the rehab is a massive boost for him personally and Team India as well.
Pant has been posting his recovery updates on social media handle. Apart from attending DC's match recently, Pant also went to meet his fellow teammates in Bengaluru ahead of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last week.
