Yet another disappointing loss and Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) have made it tough for themselves to reach the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 playoffs. Now, Royals need to treat each of their upcoming three games as a must-win clash. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a comfortable victory and moved one step closer to sealing their playoffs spot. Chasing 150, RCB finished the match with 17 balls to spare winning the match by seven wickets.
Maxwell dazzles again
This is Glenn Maxwell’s second half-century on the trot. Maxwell got to his half-century from 30 deliveries. His inning featured six fours and one six. Maxwell ensured that RCB finish the game early and boost their net run rate which will help them get two chances to qualify for the season’s final.
RCB find their number 3
RCB experimented with a few players at the No.3 position this season. Finally, they got a match in wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 44 runs from 35 deliveries including three fours and one six. Bharat stitched a crucial 69-run partnership with Maxwell for the third wicket which did not let Royals make a comeback in the game. The right-handed batter contributed with a 32-run knock in the previous game as well.
Parag’s poor campaign continues
Riyan Parag has been far from impressive this season. Parag consumed 16 deliveries to score nine runs at a time when Royals needed to accelerate in order to post a big total. The youngster has scored just 91 runs from 11 games and Royals need to look past him to stabilise their under-performing middle order.
Livingstone fails again
Liam Livingstone has looked a pale shadow of himself in this season as he scored just six runs from nine deliveries. The hard-hitting batter has failed to play the role of a destructive batter in the middle order which has been a big reason of worry. Royals may give New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips his debut cap in the team’s next game.
Lewis hits half-century
Evin Lewis got Royals off to a brilliant start. Lewis registered his first half-century of the season. His 58-run knock was laced with five fours and three towering sixes. However, after the 77-run opening partnership, things took a turn for worse. From 100/1 in 11 overs, Royals managed to post a disappointing total of 149/9 in 20 overs.
