Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson is set to return home after leading his team to a narrow three-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI), the franchise announced on Wednesday, May 18. The New Zealander is returning home to be with his partner for the birth of his second child, the club said on Twitter.

"Official update: Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand, to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here's everyone at the Sunrisers camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness," the official tweet from the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions said.

Their win over MI was crucial in the playoffs race as it kept SRH's chances of making it to the top-four alive. Meanwhile, Williamson himself has not been in the best of form for his team; The New Zealand skipper has played 13 matches this season for SRH after being retained by the franchise but has failed to deliver with the bat, scoring just 216 runs at a strike rate of 93.51.

The side from Hyderabad are currently 8th on the IPL 2022 points table, with 12 points from 13 matches. They will face Punjab Kings in their final league stage match on Sunday, May 22.
