India's batting great Sunil Gavaskar has shown his interest to play for an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise and it's one other than Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Gavaskar has closely witnessed cricket evolving from Tests to the slam bang format. From being a maestro of the game to commentator, the mighty Gavaskar has seen it all.

Gavaskar, who is part of the elite panel of commentators in the ongoing IPL, on being asked said he would love to play for four-time champions CSK and five-time holder Mumbai Indians (MI). The 73-year-old also revealed the reason behind his wish to play for CSK. He said that he would have loved to spend time with the legendary MS Dhoni and observe how he maintained his calmness as a captain on and off the field and whether or not he lost his cool in the dressing room and team meeting.

On the occasion of the IPL's 15th anniversary, Gavaskar told Star Sports,"Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, then I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings for two reasons, firstly, the Chennai owners are passionate about cricket, they have done so much for the sport. Srinivasan sir has done a lot for cricket."

"And the second big reason would be to sit in the dressing room with MS Dhoni and see how he captains the team. Is he as calm and composed in the dressing room as he is on the field? Does he lose his cool when someone has dropped a catch or somebody didn't back up a fielder? That's what I would like to know," he further added.

Out of fifteen seasons, CSK and MI are the two most dominating sides of IPL as they have won nine trophies combined. Gavaskar also went on to add that he would have loved to see the bigwigs from the past, Kapil Dev, Sandeep Patil and BS Chandrashekhar to feature in the cash-rich league by saying these legendary cricketers were suited for all formats of the game, including the T20 format.

"Look, a batsman I would like to see would be Sandeep Patil, there is only one all-rounder who I would choose - Kapil Dev, for the bowler, I would like to see BS Chandrashekhar play in the T20 format, because his bowling action was not suited only for test cricket, but one day cricket and T20 cricket would also be easy for him," Gavaskar added.
