Former India spinner and two-time World Cup winner, Harbhajan Singh voiced confidence in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) winning their last game of the regular season and earning a spot in the playoffs. If Faf du Plessis' men secure a victory on May 21 (Sunday), they will become the fourth team to book a spot. RCB have a far superior Net Run Rate (NRR) than Mumbai Indians (MI) as both franchises are tied on 14 points with one game each remaining to be played.
In case MI wins their game by a convincing margin, RCB will have the luxury of knowing by what margin they have to secure a win as the Bangalore-based franchise will play the second match on Sunday.
If RCB qualifies for the playoffs, which is more likely, they will play the Eliminator game against their rivals Lucknow Super Giants. With their eighth win of the season, LSG booked their spot in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs after beating Kolkata Knight Riders on May 20 (Saturday).
Harbhajan is excited to watch RCB and LAG cross swords once again this season. The only thing he is concerned about is another clash between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.
"If Kohli and Gambhir again face each other, I hope they do not clash again. I am only concerned about it," Harbhajan was quoted as saying on Star Sports.
RCB are playing good cricket and if they win, they will qualify directly. Both Mumbai Indians and RCB will win tomorrow, but RCB are have much better net run rate. If RCB go ahead then it will be a contest between the men from Delhi," Harbhajan added.
When Lucknow and Bangalore last played against each other, Kohli was involved in a heated verbal exchange with LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and mentor Gmabhir. Kohli and Gambhir came face-to-face and were crowded by players from both teams as it became one of the most infamous moments in IPL history.
