Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli was charged up in front of the home crowd against out-of-form Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 15. When Kohli reached his half-century he celebrated it an animated fashion. But it was something that took place after the match that has been making headlines. Kohli and DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly avoided each other during customary handshakes. In the video while Kohli interacted with DC head coach Ricky Ponting, Ganguly skipped the line and shook hands with other RCB players.

Here’s the video that has gone viral on social media –

Earlier, when Kohli was fielding in the deep near DC’s dugout, he was aggressive and stared at their support staff. The two were involved in controversy in 2021 when Kohli claimed that he was not communicated by Ganguly over his removal from ODI captain.

After David Warner won the toss and opted to field first, Kohli did the bulk of scoring during fielding restrictions. He scored 50 runs from 34 balls including six fours and one six. He got caught at the boundary by Yash Dhull in an attempt to hit a six off a juicy full toss.

During the innings, Kohli also became the first batter to score 2,500 runs at a single venue, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. He surpassed Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma to score most runs (999) against DC in T20s. Also, with three catches he surpassed Rohit's tally of catches in the IPL. Kohli is third on the list of most catches by a fielder in the IPL. Only former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Suresh Raina and former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard (103) have more catches.

“It was a tricky one. When it went up in the air, I made sure there was no one close to me. I made sure I grabbed it solidly,” Kohli said about Mitchell Marsh’s catch inside the circle after winning the ‘Player of the match’ award.

“I was quite disappointed that I got out to a full toss. I've been playing really well. I wanted to make sure that after fifty, I was targetting 30-35 runs off the next 10 balls. That's how I play. That would've helped us get past 200,” Kohli added.
