Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni helped improve the mood in the team camp, especially after their brilliant 91-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday night (May 8). In that game, The 40-year-old played a sublime knock of 21 off eight balls to help his team finish well and set an unassailable total of 208/6 in 20 overs. Another sight was when fans noticed Dhoni eating his bat as he sat in the dugout, waiting for his chance to come out and bat.
According to former India and Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Amit Mishra, there's a perfectly normal reason for the legend's actions. "In case you’re wondering why Dhoni often 'eats' his bat. He does that to remove the tape of the bat as he likes his bat to be clean. You won’t see a single piece of tape or thread coming out of MS's bat," tweeted Mishra.
Mishra as a part of this season's mega auction, but was able to attract many buyers. But that has not stopped him from keenly following the cash-rich tournament and he has, on many occasions, tweeted about major happenings throughout the season.
In any case, the actions of Dhoni surely helped the veteran wicketkeeper-batter to perform at his finest form against the Capitals as he helped CSK score a big total in a must-win game against Delhi.
Leading the line was their star opener Devon Conway, who now has three consecutive half-centuries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, while Shivam Dube also smashed 32 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 168.42.
Then the CSK bowlers again backed up their batters to restrict DC to just 117 runs, with Moeen Ali picking up three wickets for just 13 runs, bagging an economy rate of 3.25.
