Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq had a controversial Indian Premier League (IPL) debut season for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the home clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Naveen was involved in an ugly verbal spat with Virat Kohli that led to multiple Instagram post and an interview after IPL where he claimed that the former Indian skipper started the fight.
“The worst waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who does not care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. There are people who no matter how much evidence we present to them, are not in the capacity to understand, and others are blinded by ego, hatred, and resentment, and all they want is to be right even if they are not,” the text of the Instagram reel read which talked about an argument between a donkey and a tiger which led them to approach the lion.
Earlier, Naveen had said that the fines imposed after the infamous LSG vs RCB clash indicate that he was not at fault.
“He shouldn’t have said all those things during the match and after it. I didn’t start the fight. After the match, when we were shaking hands, Virat Kohli started the fight,” he told BBC Pashto.
“When you will look at the fines, you will understand, who started the fight.”
Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 per cent of their match fee whereas Naveen was fined 50 per cent by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Naveen who had a decent IPL season said that he does not sledge anyone until and unless he is forced to.
“I just want to say one thing I generally don’t sledge anyone, and even if I do it I would say it to the batters only when I am bowling because I am a bowler. In that match, I didn’t utter a single word. I didn’t sledge anyone. Players, who were there they know how I dealt with the situation.”
“I never lost my temper, when I was batting or after the match. What I did after the match is can be seen by everyone. I was just shaking hands and then he (Kohli) caught my hand forcefully and I am also human being and I reacted,” the 23-year-old had further added.
