It will be IPL 2021's finale rematch when two-time title holders Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will meet the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spearheaded by MS Dhoni in the IPL 2022 opener on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium. With new skipper Shreyas Iyer, KKR will look to avenge their last year's 27-run loss to miss the trophy by a whisker.
A total of 70 league matches will be played from March 26 to May 22. The playoffs dates have not been finalised yet but the final will be played on May 29. The matches will be held across four venues in Maharashtra. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each. There will be a total of 12 doubleheaders in the upcoming IPL season.
