MLC: RCB pacer takes five wickets, LSG batter scores crucial runs as Orcas down Super Kings

South African pacer Wayne Parnell, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, wreaked havoc while playing for the Seattle Orcas, which he captains, in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament. Playing against the Texas Super Kings, the bowler bagged a fifer as the team was bundled out for 127 runs.

He also conceded just 20 runs in his spell of four overs. While chasing a 128-run target, Quinton de Kock smashed 53 runs to give Seattle Orcas an easy eight-wicket win.


Wayne Parnell wreaks havoc


The Orcas won the toss and decided to bowl first. Parnell made the most of the decision as the South African did not allow the Super Kings batters to settle into the crease. Six of their batters were dismissed for 48 runs. Veteran West Indian Dwayne Bravo, who bats at number seven, scored 39 runs in 39 balls with 4 fours and a six to his name. The Texas Super Kings could score only 127 runs in 20 overs as Parnell took five wickets for 20 runs in four overs. Andrew Tye also took two wickets.


Quinton de Kock and Klaasen's roaring bat


Chasing a small target of 128 runs, opener Quinton de Kock made sure that the match was a one-sided affair with his batting effort. Quinton de Kock did not give a chance to the Texas Super Kings as they hit 53 runs in 36 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. In addition to him, another South African batter in Heinrich Klaasen also played an unbeaten innings of 42 runs in 21 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes to his name. The Proteas pair to the Orcas to the required target of 128 runs in 16 overs for the loss of two wickets as the Super Kings were beaten by 8 wickets.
