An attacking left-handed batter along with a stud personality, Tony de Zorzi has passed through the system of South African cricket since a very young age. He was named as the captain of the South African Under-19 squad in the year 2016. However, his returns were scanty and the team also didn’t quite perform well, finishing eleventh in the tournament.

During the 2016/17 season, de Zorzi made his first-class debut for Northerns in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup and also played in his first List-A match that same year in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. It took him almost a couple of years to score his first List-A century that came playing for Titans and the following year, he earned the spot as a captain of the South Africa Emerging Squad in 2018.

In September 2018, Tony de Zorzi was chosen for the Titans' squad for the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. Subsequently, he was also included in the Tshwane Spartans' squad for the inaugural Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. He maintained a strong performance in domestic cricket, achieving his first double century during the 2020 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series against the Cape Cobras.

Following a series of impressive performances as a batter, Tony de Zorzi earned his well-deserved spot in the South African national team. His talent was recognized when he was selected for the Test squad to face the West Indies, marking a significant milestone in his career. Not only did he make his Test debut during this tour, but he also showcased his skills on the international stage by making his ODI debut shortly thereafter. He made good strides and batted with confidence as he made 85 in one of those Tests and also notched up an impressive and unbeaten 119 in only his fourth ODI against India in the St. George's Park, that immensely helped South Africa to level the series 1-1 with that win. While in October 2024, he notched up his first Test century against Bangladesh.

In 2023, de Zorzi had the honor of captaining South Africa A in a series against Sri Lanka. Additionally, he secured a contract with the Durban Super Giants for the inaugural season of the SA20, further establishing himself as one of South Africa's promising cricket talents.
