Goa's Abhinav Tejrana and Delhi's Ayush Doseja turned heads with historic double centuries on their Ranji Trophy debut for their respective sides on October 16.
Abhinav Tejrana, Ayush Doseja burns bright with double ton in Ranji Trophy 2025-2026
Playing against Chandigarh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-2026 at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim, Goa's Tejrana reached the monumental milestone off 301 balls. The 24-year-old became the first batter from Goa to achieve a double century on First-Class debut, and only the 13th Indian in history to accomplish the feat. His remarkable innings concluded when he was dismissed after scoring 205 runs off 320 balls, an effort that included 21 fours and four sixes. His 309-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Lalit Yadav came just one run shy of Goa's record for that wicket.
In other match, Delhi's Ayush Doseja also marked his entry into First-Class cricket with a stunning double century against Hyderabad at the NexGen Cricket Ground. While these two are now among an elite group, the current record for the highest score on First-Class debut still belongs to Sakibul Gani of Bihar, who scored 341 against Mizoram during the 2021-22 season.
Both the batters joined the elite list of Indian batters with double centuries on their First-Class debuts:

Another Goa batter cracks double cent
Tejrana wasn't the only batter from Goa to reach a monumental score; his teammate Lalit Yadav also hammered a double century. Coming in at number five, the 28-year-old achieved his double ton off 373 balls, featuring 20 fours and four sixes. His stellar performance was key to Goa's strong batting display, complementing the debut double century hit by Tejrana earlier in the day.The two batters formed a colossal 309-run partnership for the fourth wicket, facing 510 deliveries together before Tejrana was dismissed for 205. This marks Lalit's return to First-Class cricket after a significant gap; his last appearance was in January 2023 for his former team, Delhi, against Hyderabad. Lalit, an all-rounder, will be looking to put a challenging 2022-23 season behind him, where he averaged just 15.71 in four matches and took only three wickets as Delhi finished sixth in their group.
