India's star batter and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara love affair with England continues as he struck yet another stunning ton in the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup on Friday (August 12).
Pujara unleashed the beast in him to clobber 22 in an over en-route to a fiery 107 off 79 for Sussex while chasing 311 in 50 overs against Warwickshire.
In a cracker of a contest when Sussex needed 70 off the final six overs, Pujara launched himself on England’s Liam Norwell, who was bowling his final over of the game. Norwell conceded 4, 2, 4, 2, 6, and 4 in his final over, which brought the match on even ground. Pujara then went on to bring his century in the 48th over of the innings, and his knock finally came to an end in the 49th over as he was clean bowled by Hannon-Dalby.
Pujara, who was looked in a complete different avatar than his usual grafter's role, hit the Warwickshire's bowlers left, right and centre.
However, despite Pujara's towering knock, Sussex fell short of four runs.
Earlier, batting first Warwickshire had posted 310/6 in 50 overs, owing to a 114-run knock by Robert Yates. For Sussex, Alistair Orr also played a knock of 81 runs, but this was not enough for the side to get over the line.
Sussex currently stand in the second position in the tournament, with four points from three matches. The table is led by Nottinghamshire at the moment.
