Sanju Samson's batting prowess is something that everyone is well aware of. The 27-year-old batter, who has been consistently performing in domestic cricket as well as franchise cricket, for some reason lose the touch when it comes to performing in International cricket. With T20I World Cup which is slated to happen this year, Samson is yet make his case in order to feature in the playing XI for th coveted trophy.

In the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, Sanju once again got the chance to prove his mettle with the willow, with several first team players missing out due to various reasons. While Samson showed glimpses of his talent with knocks of 39 and 18, respectively, former Pakistan player Salman Butt didn't look impressed with his batting.

"Sanju Samson played some excellent shots but these knocks of 18, 19, 20 and 30 are not enough. He has definitely got a lot talent but there is lack of output. He will have to improve his output if he wants to make a claim for a spot in the team," said Butt.

The former Pakistan skipper also said that Samson needs give more output if he wants to get a longer rope in the team.

Supporting his claim, Butt said that there are so many players who are knocking on the doors of a national call up with their performances.

"There are already a lot players who are knocking on the doors of the Indian team with their performances. If you want to get in the team, you've got to be exceptional. So, it's not about talent, it's about the output," he added.

The player who made the best of the opportunity given to him was Shreyas Iyer who was adjudged the Man of the Series as well as the Man of the Match for playing a match-winning blitz in the final T20 against Sri Lanka.

Shreyas made all use of his promotion to No.3. Without the services of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, Iyer set the stage alight as he scored 204 runs in 3 matches without being dismissed. It is the highest-ever tally by an Indian in a 3-match T20I series.

“Sri Lanka just don’t seem to have enough power to compete against India. It seems like Shreyas Iyer alone is enough for the Sri Lankan team as they have not been able to get him out. He’s playing with great confidence and control,” he further added.

The performances of Iyer are likely to give the selectors even more headaches as they will have to choose between the likes of Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant.
