Suryakumar Yadav's batting and personality are loaded with nonchalance. He walks out chewing gum, smacks bowlers to all corners of the ground and then walks off chewing gum, soaking the applause from a thoroughly entertained crowd. For the first time since making his international debut for the Men in blue, the explosive right-handed batter will play an international game at his home ground - Wankhede Stadium - when India locks horns against Sri Lanka in the first T20I on January 03 (Tuesday). Everyone expects Suryakumar to put on a show as he himself wants to, every time he walks into bat.

On the eve of the first T20I, the 32-year-old batted briefly in the nets and played some exhilarating shots. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of Suryakumar batting the nets at the Wankhede Stadium on January 02 (Monday).

The Mumbaikar has also been appointed as Hardik Pandya's deputy for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Recently, after earning the vice-captain tag, Suryakumar revealed that the responsibility was unexpected.

"I wasn't expecting it. Given my form in past one year, I can say that I have been rewarded. I feels nice and looking forwarded to it. I only came to know when I saw the list. Papa forwarded me the list because he is active on social media to see what's going on. He forwarded it to me directly. Then we talked," the 32-year-old had told reporters.

Suryakumar, who is popularly known as ‘Mr 360 degree’ had an exceptional outing with the bat in 2022. He amassed 1,164 runs in T20Is, becoming the first Indian batter and second overall to go past the 1,000-run mark in a calendar year in the shortest format of the game.
