Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai's astonishing performance helped Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan win the third and final ODI of the series against Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Bangladesh by 5 wickets which was being played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, on November 11 (Monday). Afghanistan won the series 2-1 and this will be a major boost for their team ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy next year.
Mahmudullah's 98 helps BAN post 244/8
Bangladesh, who came to bat first in Sharjah, did not have a good start and by the score of 72 runs, they had lost four wickets. After this, captain Mehdi Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah together took charge of the Bangladesh innings. There was a partnership of 145 runs between these two for the fifth wicket. Then Mehdi Hasan Miraz got out after scoring 66 runs with four fours in 119 balls. While Mahmudullah scored 98 runs in 98 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed century
Afghanistan had a bad start while chasing the target of 245 runs and lost three wickets by the score of 84 runs. But opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who remained at the crease, was supported by Azamtullah Omarzai, who took four wickets in bowling. Omarzai and Rahmanullah shared a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Then Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed after scoring 101 runs in 120 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes. Omarzai steals show
After taking four wickets with the ball, Omarzai stole the show with the bat as well after playing an unbeaten knock of 70 runs off 77 balls. He ensured that his team cross the line and was rightfully given the Player of the Match award.
