The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on January 28 (Saturday) announced a 22-member squad for the three-match T20I series against the UAE. The Afghanistan cricket team will travel to the UAE as per the mutual cooperation agreement signed in November 2022 between the two nations' cricket boards. Afghanistan superstar and T20 phenomenon, Rashid Khan will lead the team with the series scheduled to begin on February 16.
"We are honoured to be part of this partnership and are pleased with the results of our recent talks and negotiations with the Emirates Cricket Board," said Naseeb Khan, the CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
"Playing this T20I series is the first step in our long-term commitment and we are looking forward to a continued relationship with ECB," he added.
The series will be held at Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub's Zayed Cricket Stadium on February 16, 18 and 19. Afghanistan will also feature in their first assignment of 2023, a year that will host a couple of marquee multi-national tournaments (Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
"Emirates Cricket are looking forward to welcoming players and staff from Afghanistan Cricket as we embark on this journey and collaboration with them," Emirates Cricket Board General Secretary, Mubashshir Usmani said.
"We anticipate three very competitive, highly entertaining T20I matches," he added.
