After Shivam Dube's fifer, Ranji Trophy defending champions Mumbai failed to get a good start on Day 2 as opener Ayush Mhatre got out on just nine runs in the semifinal against Vidarbha. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane who smashed a century in last outing got dismissed on just 18 runs at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. While chasing 383, Mumbai managed to score 188 runs on day 2 of the semifinal before stumps. 

In the first innings of the 41st over, captain Rahane was bowled by Parth Rekhade after scoring 18 runs in 24 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, who came to the crease after his return to the pavilion, could not stay on the crease for long and was out for a duck on two balls. After India T20I skipper's wicket, Shivam Dubey came to the crease and he too was out for a duck on two balls with this Mumbai lost their five wickets for 113 runs.

Despite batting collapse, Anand was solid as a rock and raised his fifty while Thakur counterattacked and hit some crisp boundaries. Mumbai are trailing by 195 runs. 

After this, Harsh Dubey got Shams Mulani out LBW and gave Mumbai six wickets for 118 runs in 41.5 overs. Mumbai got the last blow of the day in the form of Shardul Thakur. He was out for 37 runs. Earlier, Dubey stopped Vidarbha's innings from crossing 400. He took five wickets for 49 runs. For Vidarbha, Dhruv Shorey scored 74 runs, Danish scored 79 runs, Karun Nair scored 45 runs and Rathod scored 54 runs.

Brief scores: Vidarbha 383 in 107.5 overs (Dhruv Shorey 74, Danish Malewar 79, Yash Rathod 54; Shivam Dube 5/49, Shams Mulani 2/62) lead Mumbai 188/7 in 59 overs (Akash Anand 67*; Yash Thakur 2/56, Parth Rekhade 3/16) by 195 runs.
