Shahid Afridi's advice to Virat Kohli to retire "on a high" amused veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra. The comment prompted a hilarious response from the leggie as he took to Twitter and wrote, “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this. (Folded hands emoji)”.

Afridi who backtracked from his retirement multiple times and donned the Pakistan jersey in international arena again offered an interesting advice to Kohli as he returned to form in Asia Cup 2022 and ended the century drought as well with his maiden T20I ton.

"The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high," Afridi said on Samaa TV.

"It shouldn't reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career," he added.

Kohli will be seen in action as India take on South Africa in three-T20I series starting September 20. It will be followed by limited-overs series against Australia at home which will work as apt practice before T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Many former cricketers have predicted that the rich vein of form can continue for Kohli as he is back to timing the ball like he used to. Kohli smashed 122 not out from 61 deliveries including 12 fours and six sixes against Afghanistan in the dead rubber clash before flying back home.
