The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce coaching staff for the Indian cricket team today (November 11). A source told Sports Tak that Paras Mhambrey may get appointed as the new bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. Along with him, T Dilip may also get appointed as the fielding coach while Vikram Rathore is all set to continue as the batting Coach. Apart from Dilip, Ajay Ratra and Abhay Sharma have also applied for the role of the fielding coach but Dilip’s name is on the top for the position, according to sources.
The trio of Mhambrey, Dilip and Rathore will work alongside the new head coach and a former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid. All coaching support staff is likely to be named officially by today evening if not then tomorrow (November 12).
“There is very little time between T20 World Cup and the upcoming series (New Zealand series) and we don't want to leave any stone unturned. It will be better if the team and support staff gel along before the tournament. Head coach Rahul Dravid is also expected to have a meeting with all staff before he joins the camp,” a source close to the development told Sports Tak.
Earlier, former head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach, Ramakrishnan Sridhar ended their tenure after India’s Super 12 match against Namibia in the T20 World Cup.
India will play their next International game against New Zealand on November 17 in the first T20I of the three-match series. And before the start of the series, the new coaching staff will join the new T20I skipper, Rohit Sharma and his men. On the other hand New Zealand have qualified for the final to be played on November 14 and are yet to announced their squad for the tour.
