The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to bring more ICC events home. India was supposed to host T20 World Cup this year but due to Covid-19 the mega event was shifted to UAE. After this, BCCI has rights to stage the 50-over World Cup in 2023. The 13th edition of the men's Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be hosted by India during October and November next year.

BCCI does not want to settle and wants more ICC events to take place in India. A source close to the development told Sports Tak, “We are planning (to host) more ICC events for our country after the 2023 World Cup. Our plan is to bring more ICC tournaments and we are planning it properly. Once our plan is final, we will pith it to ICC and we are hopeful that we will be able to bring those tournaments. Our plan is for three ICC events in next eight years of cycle,”

The source clarified that the plan is still in process and nothing is final. It will also depend to the Future Tour Programme of ICC.

“In the next meeting with ICC we will present our plan of hosting ICC events in India. Hopefully, since our country has a large number of cricket fans, we are hopeful we will be able to make it. Everything is in draft and nothing is final yet,” the source added.
