A top source in the know of things has informed Sports Tak that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued some stern words to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, asking them to manage the injuries of the Indian players in a better manner.

The source added that the BCCI is also looking to recruit some overseas injury management specialists for monitoring the players as they begin investigations into the reason behind recurring injuries to players like Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer. "Since we are monitoring all players and have seen injury issues growing we have asked NCA to keep strict eyes on players' rehab we are thinking to add some overseas injury managers and doctors to the team."

"Also we will now pay all physiotherapists in state associations as well and keep reports of players, since its World Cup year and some big names are still struggling with the injury we don't want any stone left unturned in terms of preparations, whatever will be required will be done," the source said.

The source also spoke about the injury to star batter Iyer, who missed the final Test as well as the ODI series against Australia. "The NCA has advised him to the surgery and he is also in touch with a private doctor as of now he has not decided whether he will opt for surgery or not what I can tell you is that he will wait for a few more days and then decide we are also in touch with him will see what he wants and NCA says then I can make more comment on him.  We are not in a hurry for sure," the source added.

This is also a major blow to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they will have to appoint a new captain. Nitish Rana, Tim Southee and Shakib Al Hasan are a few candidates for KKR's captaincy in the upcoming season. For India, Suryakumar Yadav, who has been deemed as his replacement, had an extremely poor series against Australia after he was Golden Duck in all three matches.
