England's 6ft 7in tall left-arm seamer Josh Hull has been ruled out of England's upcoming Test tour of Pakistan due to a quad injury. Hull, who is currently sidelined from the white-ball series against Australia, sustained the injury during his Test debut against Sri Lanka at the Kia Oval. He will continue his recovery process and will not be part of the England squad for the three-Test series in Pakistan.
Josh Hull sidelined from England's Test tour of Pakistan
An England spokesperson stated that Josh Hull would continue his recovery process and would not be replaced in the squad for the upcoming three-Test series against Pakistan, which begins on October 7 in Multan. Hull was a surprising selection for the third Test against Sri Lanka. Despite taking only two wickets in the second division of the County Championship at a high average of 182.50, he was included in the England squad.
However, Hull's performance in the Test match justified his selection, as he finished with match figures of 3-91. England ultimately won the series 2-1, with Sri Lanka securing an eight-wicket victory in the final Test at the Oval.

With Josh Hull's absence, England's frontline fast bowling options for the Pakistan Test series include Chris Woakes, Matthew Potts, Olly Stone, Gus Atkinson, and Brydon Carse. The 16-strong squad for the series has been announced. Ben Stokes, while unlikely to bowl at the start of the series, is expected to captain the side. The ECB confirmed on Wednesday that he is "on track" to fulfill this role after sustaining a hamstring injury during The Hundred last month.
Hull now sets sights on New Zealand series
Hull is currently focused on recovering from his injury and regaining fitness for the upcoming white-ball tour of the Caribbean in late October and November. Meanwhile, England also has another Test tour scheduled against New Zealand in December.
During a conversation with The Cricketer about the last few weeks with England, he said:
“It hasn’t quite sunk in yet. It’s been a crazy experience but I’ve got a little niggle at the minute. I think I’m off Pakistan. They fly on October 1 so it was a bit of a push but there are a few opportunities for the winter now and we’ll see what happens."
“It’s come at an annoying time because we had the white-ball stuff. When you get an opportunity like that to get in the mix, you want to keep on going. It’s given me a lot to think about in terms of where I want to improve to get to play at that level. It was hopefully the start of a journey,” he added.
