The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have been asked to submit their list of retained and released players by November 15, 2022, two days after T20 World Cup 2022 final. According to sources, the mini-auction before IPL 2023 will be held on December 16 in Bengaluru.
Before the IPL 2023 mini-auction, the salary purse has been increased by Rs 5 crore making it a total of Rs 95 crore. Also, from the next edition, IPL will return to home and away format after a gap of three years.
The Covid-19 pandemic and bio-bubbles prevented teams from playing at their original homegrounds. It was done in an attempt to curb the spread of virus as players were more prone to contracting the virus outside the bio-bubble.
Gujarat Titans (GT) are the defending champions of the tournament. The Hardik Pandya-led GT won the title in their debut season.
