Indian women’s cricket squad was announced on Thursday (January 6) for the five-match ODI series against New Zealand and the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup but since the team was announced the team selection has been facing a big question mark.

The team include players like Mithali Raj, who would be leading the side, vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Jhulan Goswami but surprisingly two names were not the part of the 15-member squad that was announced. Those two names are, Jemimah Rodrigues and all-rounder Shikha Pandey.

While talking about the selection process lead selector maintained a suspense saying that nothing can be said on the issue.

“Right now we are not allowed to speak,” David told UNI when she was asked about the selections.

David was further asked if selectors would eventually address the press regarding the team selection but the 44-year-old lead selector kept mum.

“Right now, I have no idea,” said David.
