Ahead of the two-match Test series starting against West Indies, Sri Lanka coach Mickey Arthur and batting coach Grant Flower have been put under isolation. Both Arthur and Flower were in close contact with Sri Lanka fielding coach Shane McDermott who has tested positive for Covid-19. McDermott has isolated himself in another hotel whereas in addition to Arthur and Flower, physio Brett Harop has been put under isolation ahead of the Caribbean challenge at home.
‘Anti-body tests will be done’
After cases of Covid-19 in the Sri Lankan camp, Sri Lanka Cricket’s Medical Committee Prof. Arjuna De Silva has said that none of the players are being considered as close contacts.
“There has been no direct contacts when it comes to the players’. Anti-body tests will be done on the close contacts tomorrow, while another round of testing will be conducted prior to the start of the first Test. All of Sri Lanka’s players and coaching staff are double vaccinated, and as such, there is little chance of the start of the first Test being impacted,” De Silva told ESPNCricinfo.
The Caribbean side is on tour of Sri Lanka where both the nations will kick off their World Test Championship cycle. Both sides will play a two-Test match series starting from November 21, 2021. Both the Test matches will be played at Galle International Stadium, Galle.
