Two days after Rishabh Pant's horrific car accident sent shockwaves around the country, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Shyam Sharma urged people and VIPs to avoid any sort of contact with Team India wicketkeeper-batter. Pant is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Dehradun and Sharma requested people to not visit the cricketer as 'there are chances of infection'.

"Those who are going to meet Pant should avoid, as there are chances of infection," ANI quotes DDCA official as saying.

"There should be no VIP movement to meet Pant, and people visiting him should avoid it as there are chances of infection for Pant," Sharma further added.

Speaking on Pant's current condition, Sharma said that the 25-year-old is stable and recovering.

"He is stable and recovering well. Our BCCI doctors are in touch with the doctors here. Jay Shah is monitoring it. As of now, he’ll remain admitted here. He told me that he tried to save (his car) from a pothole (when the accident occurred)," said Sharma.

On December 30 (Friday), Pant was involved in a devastating accident when his car hit a divider while he was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee. According to a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pat sustained several injuries in the accident.

"Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," BCCI had said in a release on Friday.
