Haryana won their first Women's Under 15 One Day Trophy title with an eight-wicket win over Delhi at IS Bindra Cricket Stadium, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) on December 7. Opener Deeya Yadav starred for Haryana with an unbeaten 124 in the run chase and a crucial run-out.
In the 35 overs per side game, Delhi got off to a decent start. In the ninth over, first-change bowler Samiksha Yadav broke the opening partnership with the wicket of Aarna Dudeja who scored 15 runs from 27 balls including three fours.
Nishika and Sonakshi shared a 103-run partnership for the second wicket. Both batters completed their respective half-centuries. Nishika missed a chance to score a century in the final as she was run out by Deeya. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 74 runs from 79 balls. Her knock was laced with 11 fours.
In the 31st over, Sonakshi got stumped out off Anisha Dalal's bowling. Sonakshi scored 55 runs from 73 balls featuring seven fours. Avleen Kumar could not make a mark as she got run out in the 31st over. Similarly, Ananya was dismissed run-out too. In the slog overs, Tanishqa Singh rotated the strike. Purva pushed the scoring rate with her cameo. She remained unbeaten for 14-ball 22 as Delhi posted 185/5 on the board.
In the run chase, skipper Tanishka Sharma was dismissed cheaply by Purva on the first ball she bowled. They did not get off to a good start as Aadya Gupta was out stumped off Archana's bowling. Aadya scored just six runs from the 15 balls she faced.
From 16/2 in the seventh over chasing a target of 186, Haryana needed a partnership. Wicketkeeper-batter Deepika Kumari played the perfect supporting role to Deeya. She scored 52 runs from 59 balls including five fours. Deeya did the bulk of the scoring in the run chase. She scored 124 runs from 114 balls. Her match-winning knock was laced with 17 fours and a six. The unbeaten 173-run partnership for the third wicket got Haryana over the line with 21 balls to spare.
