The DC franchise's search for a T20 league championship came to an end on Sunday, February 9, as Dubai Capitals defeated Desert Vipers to win the ILT20 championship. Sikandar Raza maintained composure to lead Dubai home in a 190-run chase as Dubai overcame Desert Vipers in a nail-biting final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The conclusion continued to swing in all directions.
In the powerplay, the Capitals lost Sam Billings, David Warner, and Gulbadin Naib because they were behind. But Rovman Powell and opener Shai Hope kept the team going. They kept the Capitals in the game by stabilizing the ship, but the game took a turn when Hope was dismissed for forty-three.
Powell continued from one end and discovered connections with Sikandar Raza and Dasun Shanaka (21). Powell's solid 30-ball half-century kept the Capitals in the chase. The game changed course again when Powell was dismissed for 63 in the 18th over, but the Capitals needed 65 runs from the last five overs to stay on pace for the chase. Raza stood tall, their backs facing the walls. With four wickets remaining and four balls remaining, he took the Capitals home with a hammering 34 off 12 balls.
Batting first, the Vipers amassed a solid 189 thanks to 76 from 51 balls from Max Holden and 62* from 33 deliveries from captain Sam Curran. Holden held one end and kept the scoreboard moving when openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Alex Hales left. Vipers laid a solid foundation for the others to profit from thanks in large part to his knock.
Azam Khan and Curran cashed in. For the fifth wicket, they scored 67 runs. The highlight of the second half was Curran. He hit Kuggeleijn with a 117-meter six. The Vipers came very close to 200 thanks in large part to Curran and Azam. But their 189-run total turned out to be a bit lower as the Capitals, led by a spectacular cameo from Raza, chased the total down in the last over.
